Mother of man that died in Arkansas care facility seeking $725k settlement

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The mother of a man who died while in the custody of the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) last September may now receive a six-figure settlement from the state.

According to DHS, a resident at the Southeast Arkansas Human Development Center died on Sept. 7, 2025, after “a behavior incident that led staff to use physical and chemical restraints.”
