Rookie musher becomes first to scratch in 2026 Iditarod

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Rookie Iditarod musher Jaye Foucher of New Hampshire scratched at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Rainy Pass checkpoint.

According to the Iditarod, Foucher chose not to continue for “personal reasons.” She had 15 dogs in harness at the time she made the decision and they are reported as in good health.
