ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Tuesday, March 10, marks 45 years since an Albany man left the Capital Region and was never heard from again. New York State Police are still seeking information in the cold case disappearance of then 22-year-old William “Willie” Woolheater.

Woolheater had been living in Albany, but decided to relocate to New Orleans, Louisiana, around February 26, 1981. Troopers said Woolheater’s family never heard from him again after he left the Albany area.
Family members of Woolheater’s became concerned about the loss of contact because of his mental health history. Troopers said the search for Woolheater continues to this day, and anyone with information about his location or disappearance should call New York State Police at (518) 457-6811 or email [email protected].
