Immediate Jeopardy lifted at Mission Hospital but facility remains in “noncompliance”

A federal agency has lifted the latest finding of Immediate Jeopardy at Mission Hospital, but the facility remains “out of compliance” with several conditions needed to continue its participation in Medicare and Medicaid programs, Asheville Watchdog has confirmed.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services “has approved the hospital’s enhanced plan of correction and will continue to closely monitor the facility’s progress, including conducting additional oversight activities to ensure sustained compliance,” said a statement from the agency emailed to The Watchdog.

Immediate Jeopardy, the most serious warning imposed by CMS for violations of health and safety regulations that endanger patients, was imposed in late January and lifted by the agency on Feb. 9, the statement said.
