Opening statements kicked off Tuesday in the murder trial of Savonne Morrison at the Pinellas County Justice Center in Clearwater, where prosecutors and defense attorneys offered starkly different versions of a 2022 killing that left a bicyclist dead. Morrison, now 21, is charged with first-degree murder, aggravated battery on an older person and related counts, and faces a potential life sentence if convicted.
