Community rallies to clean up neighborhood

EVANSVILLE, Ind. —Dozens of volunteers, city workers, and neighbors came together Monday morning to help restore a struggling east Evansville neighborhood and improve living conditions for the families who call it home.

People began arriving just after 7:30 a.m. at a mobile home community along Oak Hill Road. The cleanup effort comes just days after 44News reported on the conditions in the area, which residents described as rundown and neglected.

The neighborhood, home to about 10 families, had been dealing with scattered trash, damaged structures, and in some cases a lack of running water. Residents say the problems have been building for years without help from the property’s landlord…
