Multiple schools closed Wednesday after storms

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A few schools in West Michigan were closed Wednesday following Tuesday night’s storms.

Water damage prompted Grand Rapids Public Schools to close City High Middle School, the Center for Economicology, Southwest Elementary School Academia Bilingue and Zoo School. All other schools in the district remained open.

Classes were canceled at Hudsonville Public Schools’ Forest Grove Elementary and Byron Center Public Schools’ West Middle School due to power outages, the districts said. Other schools within the districts were still open.

Jenison Public Schools’ Bauerwood Elementary was also closed Wednesday.

The heavy rains caused a water main break in Ravenna, prompting a boil water advisory for the village and leading Ravenna Public Schools to cancel classes Wednesday.
