Man sentenced to prison for 2024 shooting that hurt 4 in Kalamazoo parking lot

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A man who was involved in a 2024 shooting that injured four people in a Kalamazoo parking lot was sentenced Monday, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS).

Police said Javion Jamar Jackson will serve between 22 to 40 years in prison after he was found guilty on Feb. 4, 2026 for the following charges:

  • Five counts of assault with intent to commit murder
  • Three counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder
  • Three counts of discharging a firearm from a vehicle causing injury
  • 11 counts of felony firearm
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Tampering with evidence

These charges stem from a Dec. 3, 2024 shooting that happened in a parking lot off of West Main Street near Little Caesar’s, about half a mile east of Drake Road.
