Lansing has overspent Code Blue budget

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — This year’s “extremely volatile” winter has hit Lansing’s Code Blue budget – overspending it by more than 58%.

The budget for fiscal year 2025-2026 for Code Blue related operations, including keeping Letts Community Center open overnight as a warming center, was $40,000.

As of March 9, the city has already spent $63,296 on Code Blue operations, city Spokesman Scott Bean told 6 News.

Bean acknowledged the overspending will impact the Human Relations and Community Services Department budget as the end of the fiscal year approaches, but how remains unclear…
