Germantown aldermen vote not to subsidize mixed-use development

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. – In a narrow vote, Germantown aldermen voted not to subsidize a mixed-use development at the western gateway to the city.

“Projections are not guarantees,” said Alderman Sherrie Hicks at Tuesday nigt’s meeting. “Our responsibility as a governing body is to weigh long-term obligations just as careful as potential returns.”

Developers are planning a mixed-use property called “The Standard Germantown,” which would include a restaurant as well as commercial and residential space…
