Alabama may block solar farm construction after Baldwin County ‘blindsided’ by project

Inspired by south Alabama residents‘ opposition to a solar farm project, a lawmaker has filed legislation that could potentially halt the construction of solar power facilities for one year.

The bills, SB354 and SB358, were filed by Sen. Greg Albritton, R-Atmore, who said in a Facebook post Friday that he was developing two bills to address the solar farm issue in Stockton.

Baldwin County residents have been organizing since February after being “blindsided” by the 4,500-acre project that will serve to power Meta’s $1.5 billion data center in Montgomery over 150 miles away…
