DES MOINES, Iowa — A head-on crash in the Beaverdale neighborhood seriously injured two people and forced the closure of a portion of Douglas Avenue on Tuesday morning.
Sgt. Paul Parizek, Public Information Officer of the Des Moines Police Department, said emergency personnel with the DMPD and Des Moines Fire Department are on the scene of the crash. The drivers of the two vehicles involved each suffered serious injuries in the collision and have been transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Douglas Avenue between 34th Street and 36th Street was temporarily closed while emergency crews worked. The road has since reopened.
