A theft investigation outside the Target at 2333 63rd Street in Woodridge turned dangerous Tuesday morning when a police officer was hit by a vehicle, according to police. The officer was taken to an area hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening and is expected to recover. Police said the suspect resisted arrest, struck the officer while driving off, then fled before later being taken into custody. Authorities added that the situation did not pose a risk to the wider public.
