MADISON COUNTY, Ill. – Severe storms rolled through the St. Louis region overnight and left behind some significant damage in several Illinois Metro East communities.
Residents have reported damages ranging from roofs torn from homes, broken windows and large tree branches snapped. Along with scattered showers and hail, it’s believed some areas were hit with wind gusts up to 70 mph overnight.
Damage appears particularly widespread in the communities of Marissa, Moro, New Athens, and in nearby areas. Some notable impacts were also reported as far north as Grafton, Illinois, where one well-known local restaurant Drifters’ Eats and Drinks spotted damages to its roof, siding and windows.
Officials have not yet confirmed whether there were significant injuries from the storm at this time…
