Portland school board vice chair receives $91K to quit city job, records show

A Portland Public Schools Board member accepted a nearly six-figure severance to resign from her day job with the city of Portland, records show.

Michelle DePass, who worked in city government for more than a decade, received just over $91,000 and six months of health insurance in exchange for stepping down from her position as a climate analyst with the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability on Jan. 21, according to officials and a copy of the agreement obtained by The Oregonian/OregonLive through a public records request.

The payout is equivalent to three-quarters of DePass’ annual salary of $121,617 while she was at the city, records show…
