PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. (Warren County) — Phillipsburg police are asking for the public’s help locating a woman wanted on charges related to an alleged fraudulent check passed at a local business.
According to the Phillipsburg Police Department, Mercedes L. Kiffer, 49, is wanted on charges including bad checks, forgery and theft by deception.
Authorities allege that on Aug. 8, 2023, Kiffer passed a check for $891.22 at a Phillipsburg business while knowing the check would not be honored by the issuing account. After the funds were received, the check was later discovered to be fraudulent, police said…
