CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A house fire in the Mountain Island area caused a major road to close Wednesday afternoon.
Several fire departments responded to a fire around 4:20 p.m. in the 11300 block of Kennewick Road, near Mount Holly-Huntersville Road. No injuries have been reported.

The Long Creek Fire Department reported that companies worked for two hours before clearing the scene.
The intersection of Mount Holly Huntersville and Oakdale Road was closed due to the fire, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, causing significant backups on Interstate 485 during rush hour…
