Trial date set for Columbus officer accused of choking girlfriend

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A Columbus police officer accused of choking his live-in girlfriend appeared in court Tuesday morning.

Jacob Smith is charged with strangulation and illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor-permit premises. His bond remains set at $225,000, and his trial was set for May 14.
