Roanoke police arrest teens linked to Hyundai, Kia thefts in SW

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with multiple vehicle thefts and attempted vehicle thefts, according to Roanoke Police Department (RPD). The suspects were targeting Hyundai and Kia models in the southwest Roanoke area.

Detectives with RPD say the arrests follow a string of 15 incidents reported between Feb. 14 and March 5 within about a 1.5 mile radius in the City of Roanoke. The incidents included three confirmed vehicle thefts and 12 attempted thefts, according to RPD.

Roanoke Police say the vehicles involved in the theft showed similar damage across the board, including damage to door locks and the steering column/ignition area. This is consistent with other theft methods used nationwide against certain cars made by Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation.
