When a Staten Island gem sags: How officials jumped into action over our promenade concern

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — As a lifelong Midland Beach resident, I’m quite familiar with the promenade along the water and the occasional wear and tear that plagues the popular site.

Unfortunately, the mountains of snow this winter did more than just test my patience; they took a toll on the beachfront location’s pavement as well.
