Bomb squad responds to stinger missile training device found in yard

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office (NHCSO) Bomb Squad responded Tuesday to a call after a stinger missile training device was discovered in someone’s yard on Ballast Drive.

When the NHCSO Bomb Squad bomb squad arrived at the location, they X-rayed the device and secured the area.

NHCSO said there was no active weapon in the system itself.
