Nicole Kidman Opens Up About Life After Divorce

Nashville residents might have noticed a shift in the local celebrity landscape as Nicole Kidman, a long-time fixture in the community, navigates a new chapter following her divorce from Keith Urban. After what she described as a year “in my shell” in 2025, Kidman is now openly focusing on “what’s good” as she moves forward into 2026.

In a recent interview, when asked about her well-being, Kidman shared a resolute perspective: “I am, because I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good.” Her priority, she emphasized, lies with her family, stating, “What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward.

That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect.

I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”

Kidman initiated divorce proceedings in Tennessee on September 30, with the divorce finalized in January. The former couple has established a parenting plan that grants Kidman primary custody of their daughters, 17-year-old Sunday Rose and 15-year-old Faith Margaret.

The agreement outlines that the girls will spend 306 days a year with their mother and alternate weekends with their father. A detailed annual schedule also determines how various holidays will be shared.

While Urban and Kidman will jointly make significant decisions concerning their minor daughters, Kidman holds “final decision-making authority” should disagreements arise. This arrangement will remain in place until Sunday Rose turns 18 on July 7.

Prioritizing Family Over Career Ambitions

With both of her daughters in high school, Kidman is consciously putting some of her more ambitious career aspirations on hold. “There are still things I want to do as an actor.

I want to do theater again. I’ve done Broadway and the West End a couple of times,” she explained.

“But I’m interested in Off Broadway and even some regional theater at some point, like in Chicago.”

However, she acknowledges the timing isn’t right for such commitments. “Those things are different and exciting; you just need to get your children to a certain age to be able to do it.

Right now is not the time for me to do that; I’ve got to take care of these kids. That’s sort of in my ‘future’ folder.

I’ve got to fill this summer with kid stuff.”

Despite the recent changes in her personal life, Kidman has affirmed her commitment to remaining in the Nashville area, where she and Urban have resided since approximately 2007. “We have our life here.

I’m part of the city and community for 20 years. It’s my home,” she stated, underscoring her deep roots in the community.
