Benton County officials are asking residents to turn off unnecessary outdoor lights at night to help protect migratory birds passing through Iowa this spring. The county shared infographics from BirdCast.org showing migration patterns across the state and specifically over Benton County.
Most migratory birds travel at night and can become disoriented by city lights, leading to building collisions.
