Following the closure of an Asian fusion restaurant, a new Japanese spot looks to be going in its place.
Signage has recently been put up in front of the building at 2 N River Street in downtown Aurora for Kai Japanese Kitchen. Not much is known about the concept, but it promises “waves of flavor” from a recent social media post. Construction is ongoing inside.
Leilani Asian Fusion first opened in the downtown area in August 2024 and had to close in July 2025 due to issues with funding the restaurant. It also reportedly went through a change in partnership.
