VIOLET, La. (WGNO) — The last two suspects wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old were arrested in Mississippi on Wednesday, March 11.
According to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, 23-year-old Marcus Venible and 21-year-old Maliek Pickens were taken into custody, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to five. Both are awaiting an extradition hearing to be taken back to St. Bernard Parish.
SBSO officials said Venible will be charged with second-degree murder, while Pickens will be charged with principal to second-degree murder.
On Thursday, Feb. 12, around 12:40 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of Colonial Boulevard in Violet. Deputies found a 17-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
