Metro adds decals reminding riders about priority seating

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — On Tuesday, Metro announced that some Metro trains may see new decals on their floors starting this week.

The decals are meant to remind riders about priority seating — the seats next to the center doors of each train car. These seats are for those with disabilities, those with mobility devices, older adults, pregnant people or others with not-always-visible disabilities.

The seats already have signs above them, but Metro hopes to increase visibility with these decals and “remind customers to look up and proactively offer the seat to fellow passengers who may need it more.”

The current pilot program will place these non-slip decals in 20% of Metro’s 7000-series fleet for around three months…
