DC apartment building evacuated due to high gas levels

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A five-story apartment building in Northwest, D.C, was evacuated Wednesday after high levels of natural gas were detected inside.

According to apost to Xby DC Fire and EMS (DCFEMS) at 3:40 p.m., crews responded to the 2700 block of Courtland Pl. NW for reports of high gas readings at an apartment complex.

Secret Service, police investigating after van drives through barricade near White House

Responders secured the gas, and the levels began to drop around 4:30 p.m. However, the building’s power has been shut off until further notice to prevent any sources from igniting.

No one was hurt, and the building will be ventilated until it is safe for residents to return, according to DCFEMS…
