The City of Longmont is telling utility customers who received bills between Feb. 27 and March 10 to disregard them after officials identified a printing error that caused some statements to be mailed to the wrong addresses. The city said Tuesday that the problem had been corrected and updated bills had been mailed as of March 10.
The notice, posted by the city Tuesday, said the mailing mistake affected “some recent utility bills” and resulted in those bills being sent to incorrect addresses. The city did not say how many customers were impacted, how the error occurred, or whether any customer account information was exposed beyond incorrect delivery.
Longmont said customers who received a bill during the affected period should disregard it. The city also said it is taking responsibility for the mistake and “taking steps to ensure it does not happen again.” The city did not provide additional instructions in the notice for customers who may be waiting on a corrected bill, or for customers concerned about payment deadlines…
