RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A man has been convicted of running a large fraud ring in which he stole around $500,000 from a victim.
Amit Bhanwala-Singh has been found guilty of exploitation of an elderly person to obtain money under false pretenses after a case handled in partnership by the Reno Police Department, the Truckee Police Department, and the Reno Resident Office of the Secret Service.
“Older members of our community deserve protection, dignity, and peace of mind, not manipulation and financial devastation at the hands of organized fraudsters,” said DA Hicks. “We will continue working with our law enforcement partners to aggressively pursue and punish anyone who seeks to prey on vulnerable citizens.”…
