LAKEMORE — Representatives from the Akron General Trauma Team honored three Lakemore Village firemedics with “challenge coin” awards at the March 2 Council meeting.
The awards are given to paramedics, nurses and physicians to honor exceptional lifesaving efforts and patient care. Lakemore firemedics Justin Wise, John Kastor and David Phillips were honored for a Dec. 23 call in response to an unresponsive high school student who was found to be in full cardiac arrest when the team arrived. The patient made full recovery, due in large part to the early lifesaving efforts of Wise, Kastor and Phillips.
The Akron General commendation recognized the firemedics’ “skill, composure and decisiveness … during one of the worst calls you can imagine.”…
