HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) – The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office said two people have been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after two dogs were found abandoned in a home.
Deputies said that on Thursday, February 26, Animal Enforcement officers responded to a call requesting a welfare check on two dogs that were believed to have been abandoned at a house for two weeks. Upon arrival, officers noticed two dogs in the house looking out the front window. Both dogs were reported to be severely underweight, with their ribs, backbone and hips clearly visible.
Both dogs were seized from the home and taken to Henderson County Animal Services (HCAS) for evaluation and care.
