The LG Electronics home appliance production facility in Clarksville, TN, is redefining injection molding excellence. Designated a Lighthouse Factory by the World Economic Forum, this state-of-the-art facility combines advanced automation, meticulous organization, and sustainability practices to produce 1.5 million appliances annually with unparalleled efficiency.
“I’m in injection molding facilities every day,” said Paul Caprio, president of US and Canada for LS Mtron Injection Molding Machines USA. “None are as clean as this plant. It’s a testament to the methodical and creative solutions LS Mtron and our customers can create because we work so closely together to achieve extraordinary results.”
A symphony of precision and automation
Injection molding is the backbone of the Clarksville facility, with 21 LS Mtron presses operating across three shifts, five days a week. The operation produces 170,000 appliances monthly, with just 1.3% scrap and 90% overall equipment efficiency (OEE). Downtime is limited to 17 hours per month for the entire shop, including machines, robots, and conveyors.
