Columbus residents oppose $5B ‘Project Ruby’ data center at city council meeting

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – At least 13 Columbus residents addressed the city council Monday during the public agenda portion of a meeting focused on Project Ruby, a proposed $5 billion data center investment. Residents raised concerns about rising water and power bills, noise, and property values.

No vote was taken to approve or deny the data center.

Residents voice concerns

Columbus resident Kim Hicks said the project would have negative effects on the community.
