Suspect accused of defacing monuments at Little Round Top area of Gettysburg Battlefield last year has been arrested, officials say

GETTYSBURG, Pa. — A Cumberland County man is facing two felony charges after authorities say he carved his initials onto two monuments at a Gettysburg battlefield landmark.

Lucas J. Reisinger, 36, of Carlisle, allegedly carved “LJR” onto the plaque of the 44th New York Infantry Monument and onto the face of a statue of Col. Patrick O’Rorke on the 140th New York Infantry monument in September 2025, according to the U.S. National Park Service.

Both monuments are located in the Little Round Top area of the battlefield, one of the site’s most-famous landmarks…
