HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHP) — It’s been nine years since the death of Lt. Dennis DeVoe, who was killed by an impaired driver while answering the call of duty at the age of 45.
Harrisburg Bureau of Fire joined several other fire departments in honoring the death of DeVoe, who was heading to the scene of a fire after attending the funeral of another firefighter when he was critically hurt.
The police said the driver, Khanyae Kendall, who was 19 at the time, ran a stop sign in a stolen car at the intersection of Walnut Street and 14th Street before hitting DeVoe’s vehicle on the passenger side and fleeing the scene…
