Winter Haven detectives are asking for information about a shooting that happened on January 30, 2026, around 9:50 p.m. at the Abbey Lane Apartments located at 604 Evergreen Place, Winter Haven. A group of about 13 people had gathered outside Building 6 when a man dressed in black pulled out a handgun, which discharged and struck the ground. The group scattered, and another man was later seen limping with a leg injury.
Shortly after, EMS responded to the Royal Inn at 3525 Lake Alfred Rd, where a man with a leg injury was taken to the hospital. He confirmed being at the apartments during the incident but did not know anyone in the group.
