NY weather: Be prepared for strong thunderstorms in part of New York Wednesday night – wind gusts reaching 40 mph

A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Wednesday at 9:54 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 10:45 p.m. for Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens as well as Putnam, Westchester and Nassau counties.

Residents can expect wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

“At 9:54 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Brewster to near Greenwich to Midtown Manhattan. Movement was east at 50 mph,” according to the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.”…
