Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — Father William Coffas, pastor of Holy Cross Church on Lake Avenue, said a statue of the Virgin Mary was taken from the grotto on church property over the weekend.
“We can’t explain this,” Coffas said. “Why would somebody want to do this?”
“My first thought was maybe a well-intentioned parishioner took it to clean it or care for it,” he added. “That was my first hope.”…
