Montgomery County committee unanimously passes ‘County Values Act’ restricting ICE operations

ROCKVILLE, Md. (DC News Now) — A Montgomery County Council committee unanimously passed the County Values Act on Wednesday, a bill that would limit ICE operations on county property. The full council will now need to vote before the legislation can become law.

The County Values Act would require ICE agents to have a judicial warrant before entering non-public areas of county buildings. Supporters say the measure could help protect immigrant communities, and after the committee’s unanimous vote, many say they are hopeful the bill is one step closer to passing.
