TAMPA, Fla. – Hillsborough County is gearing up to honor a generation of service members with a full day of events later this month. On Saturday, March 28, the Veterans Memorial Park and Rear Admiral LeRoy Collins Jr. Veterans Museum will host “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans & War Dogs Day.”
The event, located at 3602 N. U.S. Hwy. 301 in Tampa, is a joint effort between the Vietnam Veterans of America/Chapter 787, the Veterans Council of Hillsborough County, and local Veteran Community Services. Organizers say the goal isn’t just to look back at history, but to foster community and camaraderie among those who served.
The morning kicks off at 8 a.m. with a classic car cruise-in, followed by a military working dog demonstration at 9:30 a.m. As the music of the ’60s and ’70s fills the air via a performance by The Lint Rollers, a formal remembrance ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m…
