Two arrested after K9 alerts to drugs during Wilmington traffic stop

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Two people were arrested after a police K9 alerted to narcotics during a traffic stop on Carolina Beach Road, according to the Wilmington Police Department (WPD).

According to WPD, officers stopped a vehicle in the 2500 block of Carolina Beach Road around 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10. A K9 unit was called to the scene and gave a positive alert. A search of the vehicle turned up illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Gary Dean Hubbard Jr., 41, of Currie, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, altering/stealing/destroying evidence, a window tinting violation, and no liability insurance. He was given a $15,000 secured bond…
