MICHIGAN CITY — A police officer fell down in the road in front of a high-speed chase and was nearly run over, but in the end, the incident helped convince the fleeing suspect to stop and surrender, police said.
At one point, police said, Michigan City Police Officer Scott Paull ran out onto Interstate 94 to drag stop sticks across the road to stop a man accused of stealing a car.
