Amarillo, Texas – A single spark could rapidly ignite grassfires across the Texas Panhandle today as strong winds and unusually warm temperatures combine to create dangerous fire conditions through the evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, critical fire weather conditions are expected from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday across the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles. Southwest winds will increase to 20 to 35 mph with gusts between 30 and 45 mph, creating conditions where fires can spread quickly in dry grasslands…
