Lubbock man federally indicted after Christmas carjacking

LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock man, Joshua Wood, 38, was federally indicted Wednesday, March 11 on three charges stemming from a carjacking that took place on Christmas Day of 2025.

According to court documents obtained by EverythingLubbock.com, on December 25, 2025, at approximately 11:07 p.m., a suspect, identified as Joshua Wood, approached three victims outside of a residence in the 4300 block of 29th Street. Wood pointed a pistol at them and demanded that they give him a ride, when one of the victims refused, they instead gave Wood their keys to their vehicle.

Wood entered their vehicle and drove away. Officers later arrived and were given footage of the incident from a Ring doorbell camera. The footage showed the encounter with Wood as well as a visible image of him. The vehicle would be found later in the 3300 block of 41st Street.

On December 26, 2025 at approximately 3:08 p.m., officers responded to a check subject call near the 5000 block of 24th Street. The subject in that call matched the description of Wood. Wood was also in possession of a pistol that matched the description of the pistol from the night before…
