Parkville homes, city vehicles damaged in large hailstorm

PARKVILLE, Mo. — After a band of severe storms moved across the Kansas City metro Tuesday night, many residents are left assessing the damage caused by extreme winds and record-sized hail, including one local police department that was hit especially hard.

Between 6 and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a large storm started crossing the region, bringing tennis ball, baseball and grapefruit-sized hail to several counties on both sides of the state line.

From dented car hoods to busted windshields, many cars parked outside or on the road saw extensive damage if they were unable to find shelter…
