U of A board approves plans to divert millions to athletics, receives pushback from lawmakers

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Over two dozen state lawmakers are pushing back against a resolution approved by the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees that would provide nearly $11 million to the Razorbacks Athletic Department.

The board approved the resolution during its January 28, 2026, meeting. It would have produced $6 million from “offsets and forbearance” and additional funds saved by the Athletic Department from canceling internal transfers to institutional operations.

Also, the athletic department is required to generate a $5 million annual “All-In Fund” for the football program through operational efficiencies, cost reductions, new revenue, and further philanthropic fundraising…
