OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – About 50 college students at the University of Nebraska Omaha are helping the federal government track terrorist threats from Iran and around the world through a Department of Homeland Security-funded research center on campus.
The center, called NCITE, launched in 2020 and is federally funded through 2030. Students analyze and survey threats from across the globe, working alongside DHS to provide information for national defense.
Students bring range of skills to the work
Ben Battafarano, who has worked with NCITE for three years, said the student researchers come from a variety of academic backgrounds.
