Hotter-than-normal conditions are set to continue in Colorado, already having put a damper on winter thus far.
According to The Weather Channel, March 18 through March 22 should bring temperature highs above 80 degrees Fahrenheit to the Mile High City – 83°, 87°, 88°, 85°, and 85°, respectively. To help put that in perspective, the long-term norm for the temperature high during this period is 57° to 58°, per National Weather Service data. This would also mean setting new temperature records on each of those dates, which respectively are 82° (1907), 81° (1907), 80° (1907), 78° (1995), and 79° (2004) – three of those records have stood for 119 years.
Temperatures in the 80s in March in Denver aren’t unheard of, but they tend to be record-setting territory – 80° has been hit on eight of 31 March dates before. The warmest March day in Denver dating back to 1872 was clocked at 84° (March 26, 1971), which would be topped on four of five days during the upcoming stretch if the forecast holds true. It’s also worth noting that record lows for all March dates with the exception of six dates are below zero, showing how March tends to be a month that can go either way…
