Three officers injured in separate inmate attacks at Greene Correctional Facility

Coxsackie, NY (WRGB) — Three correctional officers were injured in separate inmate attacks at Greene Correctional Facility, and a fourth officer was hurt while responding to one of the incidents at the medium-security prison in Coxsackie.

The first attack happened Feb. 20 as an officer assigned to one of the facility’s dorms was opening a door. An inmate approached from behind and forcibly shoved the officer into the door, causing him to hit the door frame face-first. The officer regained control, turned and secured the inmate in a body hold, forcing him to the ground. Backup was called and additional staff arrived to assist. The inmate was subdued, handcuffed and escorted to the Special Housing Unit.

The injured officer was treated by medical staff for thumb, hand, wrist and lower back injuries but remained on duty…
