The Fresh Market Returns to Hendersonville After Hurricane Helene Rebuild

Hurricane Helene made landfall in late September 2024, especially ravaging the city of Asheville, N.C., and surrounding mountain communities like Hendersonville. The Hendersonville Fresh Market sustained extensive damage due to floodwater, necessitating a rebuild.

The reopening began with a bread-breaking ceremony, accompanied by a performance from the Hendersonville High School marching band. Remarks were delivered by Mayor Barbara Volk and Chamber of Commerce President Robert Williford, as well representatives from vendors Poppy’s Popcorn and Devil’s Foot Beverage Co., which partnered with The Fresh Market on the Explore Asheville campaign during the store’s rebuild. More local vendors sampled their products throughout the day, highlighting the region’s makers and growers.
